Architect Andrew Mann of Andrew Mann Architecture kept the historical details intact in this girls' bath in a San Fransisco Victorian.
Reinvent Furnishings. Antique pieces give a space a been-there-forever look. Here, an antique dresser with a fresh coat of paint was refitted into a sink vanity. The equally stately mirror sports a timeworn finish.
Be Bold With Paint. Reminiscent of the pink baths of yesteryear, this hue (Ralph Lauren's Belmont Pink 1850) coordinates with the girls' bedroom decor, but is easily repainted if their tastes change.
Keep Classic Features. When possible, use elements original to the home. New plumbing and a full enclosure curtain rod make this claw-foot tub work. White hexagonal penny tile got darker grout for practicality.
Make a statement. A little splurge can go a long away. Here old-fashioned Delft-like tile on the backsplash sets the tone for the entire room. Sweet hardware complements the look.
